It's probably because the first time you request the data, it's not in the CDN. The backend server must be overloaded, so it serves some data before it fails. Then it gets cached in the CDN so subsequent requests work fine.

Is maintenance still going on? Downloads fail constantly (I'm talking every few seconds) for me.
Tried various browsers and connections.
One I was able to finish by retrying over and over until it finished, but sometimes it just fails and starts over, making it flat out impossible to download (or watch) videos.

videos keep getting stuck, and if you try downloading them it just gives you an error after a while. I don't care if it has to be slow or whatever but at least let us get the damn files, however long it may take. As it stands, there are videos that simply cannot be viewed.

I have to imagine all these dickheads spam abusing the API to post the same fucking thing over and over is at the root of this. Literally search Posts for any normal first name and it's just a block of the same image same spammy "advertisements"…. I'm assuming implementing a method to prevent these bulk imports is one reason the site isn't being updated. The solution also needs a retroactive purge of all that bullshit too, which from that perspective I think the community would gladly flag those posts for deletion and self moderate .. which should reduce server spend. I'm not a tech guy but that shit is clearly jamming up servers and creating a bunch of unnecessary storage waste… Would be happy to actively mark posts as garbage while browsing to help even if just a little
