why is it that clicking "browse" for most (all?) new (few months?) zip attachments shows an 404 error message about some url but not the url where we can actually download the zip (that works fine)?

this is particularly disruptive for zips with passwords, since the browse page is where people enter the password if they know it, or where you can see it if someone already entered it.
is there another place/way to enter/see the password that isn't broken from the browse error?
