What the ACTUAL FUCK IS THIS???

This is a pirate site, tell me you seriously aren't enforcing Australia's "Under 16" ban which is more of a "make an account and prove you're old enough to receive certain government benefits via face scan or showing ID and hope it never gets leaked" scheme. That seriously better not be the reason for this "log in to view" shit you're now doing all of a sudden.

BTW if anyone outside Australia is or isn't seeing it too, let me know.

And before anyone suggests getting a VPN, you should know that nowadays you can get punished by everyone for even having it on your device (assuming VPNs don't just get banned outright), so it'd still be a losing case.

Kemono, you're a PIRATE site. Don't start pretending to be a major "social media" site, don't pretend you aren't among the "dodgy alternatives". DON'T BETRAY YOUR CAUSE.

 No.64222

Lol Australia. Enjoy your meme laws making a game illegal if it hasn't been approved by the government first. Just as useless as the UK if not more.

 No.64223

Seriously though, this is REGRESSIVE AS FUCK. A terrible business decision, an act of treason by becoming the very thing you claim to stand against, a WALLED SITE. Can't view artist pages (except for Discord ones, however long that'll last), can't view the post pages.

Of all the thing I have seen on Kemono over the years, this is BY FAR THE WORST. Even runaway Yiff.party had the decency to actually let people see what's on the site and not block them out for existing.

GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER OR THIS WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL.

Surely, this is just a backend bug. After all, I've got an American IP address and I'm getting this bullshit as well.

The worst part is that I put in quite a bit of effort to prepare for that by downloading videos from different sites, yet I didn't download any (or even pics) from here since I thought this site would be safe. Many of those sites are still accessible as they were before (and many of those videos), but I didn't think Kemono would actually be THIS STUPID as to follow along with it anyway.

BTW the ban isn't so much carried out by the government itself but more enforced by websites across the internet, all with their own ways of working out someone's age (and that websites that don't would have to pay massive fines, though this seems to be more about websites you've heard of). Kemono seriously doesn't think they'd be worthy enough to be at risk of actually getting fines, do they?

What a crime.

Are you actually in the US or are you an Australian trying to use a VPN set to the US? Because if it's the latter well you can still be screwed over just for using a VPN, so how would you really know?

>Surely, this is just a backend bug.
I HOPE SO!

Basically the only companies that ever need to care about fines are companies that earn revenue from those countries. Facebook, for instance, sells ads to Australian companies, and the proceeds from those sales could be confiscated by the government to pay for the fine. So they have to comply. Sites with no revenue, or with revenue that is primarily in the form of crypto currencies, can safely ignore the complaints of regulators. Unless those regulators are in the same country where the servers are physically located of course.

I'm german and yeah I get 401 errors too? Earlier today and yesterday I could access stuff, and direct links still work.

So I assume this is may be a backend/cloudflare issue again?

Had a friend from the Philipines try and access the site as well, and yeah they're getting 401 shit as well.

Well I guess the Australian U16 ban isn't to blame them. That only came into effect on Wednesday.

 No.64237

>>64236
*then, not them

 No.64238

OP: Okay so this issue clearly isn't limited to Australia, so we can safely rule the "Under 16" ban out.

But still, is this really a bug or is it the new norm. I just hope Kemono isn't just looking at the UK and Australia and going "Okay this is the new normal worldwide, better get ahead of the game and look the part".

Seriously Kemono, just fix it.

I'm in the US and using ProtonVPN set to "fastest country" (which of course means the VPN location is just another city in my state).

Checking for users on VPNs is next level evil though. You're not gonna get fucking sued for letting in minors who are using VPNs to circumvent restrictions.

 No.64240

definitely a bug I'm unning a VPN and am getting 401s

 No.64249

OP: Let's hope this "BUG" gets fixed then. Let's just hope this is just a bad day that will pass by.

 No.64276

Bumping this to bury the CP spam.

 No.64277

It is favorites endpoint causing error 401 returning {}, the posts are being returned properly as they should have been, just use network logger in web developer tools to see what I'm talking about.

 No.64299

Yea this seems to be a bug likely so things should hopefully be back to normal once admin fix it>>64208

 No.64321

the OP is an aspie for freaking out over nothing.

creating an account is free and it's probably a bug, something similar happened a few years ago. even then, it's irrelevant, as creating an account is free and doesn't require any verification.

 No.64329

401/502/503

 No.64332

What is OP even talking about. All I get is "Error 503 The API is currently unavailable. Try again later."

 No.64334

>>64226
It likely is a backend bug and the version was production before so we have to wait until admin get back

 No.64343

OP is a retard

 No.64386

OP: Turns out it was a bug after all. PHEW!
