Did the SubscribeStar importer die because the API changed in some trivial way, or did they add difficult anti-bot/security features like fanbox did?

Nobody really knows I think.

From what I gather the importer died because people using it were getting their accounts banned.

It could be something like tracking your browser, mail and stuff.
