What history has actually shown is that when content is priced fairly, easy to access, and available in the right places, sharing paywalled information tends to drop. A lot of the time, it exists because there's a gap in what the market is offering, not because people have some deep commitment to getting things for free.

tbf a good bunch of these artists are one off imports that no one will actually miss, for example, every single discord server that's scrapped counts as an artist, and if you take a look there is a fair number of imports that are literal test servers, irrelevant slop and crypto spam, same for other platforms, there is a good bunch of ai slop makers who most likely scrapped themselves into the website, not to mention the hefty amount of non artist stuff that lays within the website like youtuber patreons, donation pages and the like, a more down low site wouldn't stop traffic from getting there, it would just be filtered a bit, the relevant stuff would still be there, growth would just be slower, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, because things would be more focused and not as messy as they currently are.
