I'm bored of this site just not updating and breaking every few months, is there really no alternative?

 No.72735

Nope, and there won't ever be one.

Everyone talks the big game, but absolutely NOBODY wants to actually COMMIT to what they're saying.

Why would anyone make a new one? Putting all this together is a shit ton of work and and as there's an issue a wave of the most entitled gooners every spewed out onto the internet have a tendies fit and shit their daipers all over the forum.

having a scraper isn't the same thing as having a site to store and share what gets scraped, which is what Kemono was before the admins decided to let the site die

no one is building an alternative to Kemono

end of line; line end here

"Hey uhh, can you please fix this thing that has been broken for months now that essentially renders the site useless? Or at least post here to show that you are even still alive and aware of the issue?" = "OMGWTF YOU ARE THE MOST ENTITLED GOONERS IN ALL OF EXISTANCE" apparently. I wonder how these people survive having a job if they think shit being broken for months with no word from the people in charge is normal and complaining about it is entitlement.

You have to be outside the US and EU zone to avoid prosecution. The only time someone in the eastern bloc or elsewhere is going to be desperate enough to do it is if this site goes down completely.

Are you paying for this?

 No.72769

I was thinking of just like a close-knit Discord server where one guy subscribes to all the Patreons & Fanboxes & shares everything with everyone. You cant join unless you chip in like, $1 but for that $1 you get access to everything and the $1 goes back towards joining the Patreons. If you get like, 50 people in the server then thats $50, more than enough for all the important artists. Clearly a human doing it is better than relying on a scraper that always breaks down. But idk I'm stupid.

Most of the Top artists' paywalls are like $5. If everyone chipped in $1 and you had like, 100 people in the server you'd have enough for the Top 20 artists on the site. Obviously some people have more niche pages theyre following but I mean for most of us thats already a good deal.

Two problems with that.

Firstly, there's the basic thing that once money gets involved, so does law enforcement. Provide a free service, taking in just enough from ads and donations to keep the server running, and you're a small fry no one cares about. If you charge for entry or make a bit of a profit, it becomes worth taking you down.

Second, and more problematic; everyone's interests are niche. There are certainly people who'd be willing to chip in $1 to a pool that gives access to some curated top X list of webnovels, or paywalled H-game releases, or hypnosis audio, or tentacle hentai, or whatever. The problem is that everyone's tastes are different, so you can't easily have one site that charges for all of those things. If you do, the people who came because they want to see the latest chapters of some cultivation slop are going to be annoyed that their tiny $1 donation is theoretically also paying for blacked waifus or genderbender doujins or literal shitty diapers or whatever other paywalled content doesn't appeal to them. In an environment where every user is paying for part of everything, and they all want different things, that sounds like a source of endless drama.

Maybe you can design a system where contributors indicate what paywalled content they want to see, which takes everyone's opinions into account and spits out an unhappy medium. Odds are that's not actually going to be better than the current system where people who want to share things just do that, though.

That's actually a good idea but everyone and their dog has a paywall by now which means hundreds of millions of potential creators. I'm not gonna nitpick on how some greedy creators set the minimum support fee at well over $50(?!) (happens more often than you'd think…) so let's say $5.

How do we define top creators and who do we want to see though? If it's one of those overprotective, totally museum contenders playing cat-and-mouse, just let them have their fun and kill off their own supporters I guess.

Solid points. The internal discussions, slapfights and realpolitik that would take place if this was implemented feel like they could be hilarious.
I guess donations are the least inefficient thing after all, with ads a fairly distant second. And even with the different niches, there will be some nannyish creators who aren't really worth the coin they try to extract from their customers.
Past some stage, hiding this sort of thing from law enforcement will also be impossible, I'm certain, and that's assuming it doesn't implode before then from infighting over where to distribute the tax dollars.

Yeah no doubt that shit would suck ass. Man what happened? At one point in time this site worked well and the importer hardly broke, now this shit is always fucked. The only assumption I can make is life got in the way of fixing and developing for a paysite scraper. Maybe the site needs to be taken over by someone that actually has time to spare for this shit hole. Im not sure but there is probably someone who would want to.

Hell, the most they’ll need to do is probably put up a notice for applications and see who bites
